'When creating my images, I draw inspiration from my emotional world and life experiences. My process involves creating an abstract backdrop with acrylic paint, then superimposing imagery drawn in thick black pen, on the top. Much of the preliminary work is done with eyes shut, so as to disengage the mind and allow my imagination to take over. I like to use interesting papers in my work to create further detail and texture.
My recent body of work reflects time spent studying and travelling overseas in the UK, Europe and USA and explores emotions related to my journeys. Feelings attached to relationships also play out in my work.
I have exhibited at Artplace in Claremont, Western Australia, with the American Womens' Association and was recently selected to participate in the Town of Claremont 2016 Art Award. I have a drawing held in the public collection 'Cruthers Collection of Australian Womens Art' at Lawrence Wilson Art Gallery at the University of Western Australia.
